The Tyldesley Bikepacking Centre

"Fast enough to go places, slow enough to see places"

The Cycle Project will be opening The Tyldesley Bikepacking Centre in Summer 2025. This unique initiative is being set up to introduce families to the amazing pastime of bikepacking. If your new to the world of bikepacking it's a unique way of getting away, solo or with the family, and see the world from a different perspective. "Fast enough to go places, slow enough to see places". You take everything you need on your bike and stop off at new places as you see the world from your bike. You will be amazed at the generosity and kindness of people who welcome you to there area when you travel by bike, people interested in your bike, journey and adventure. Bikepacking doesn't have to be a huge international adventure. The Tyldesley Bikepacking Centre will specialise on introducing people to Bikepacking and have everything you need to start your first adventure, weather that's one night away with the family or your first solo trip further afield.

Creating memories

No child will remember their best day on a Play Station! Bikepacking is a way of creating lasting family memories and opening doors to new experiences. The Tyldesley Bikepacking centre will provide everything you need to get started, this will be on a hire or even free in some circumstances. The courses we run will provide you with all the skills you need. Our team of Cycle Tour Guides will help you plan the route from the comfort of our on site cafe and if you need that extra hand to get you started, The tour guides will tag along so you will be in expert hands.

How can you help

Our network of Cycle projects don't just happen! There is a team of volunteers behind every project giving up their time and passing on their experience to allow others to enjoy cycling.

The Cycle Project UK cic has benefited from The National Lottery "Awards for All" and has teamed up with the charity "Rebuild with Hope" to continue to provide a great service.

The Tyldesley Bikepacking centre is a unique idea, creating a Bike Library to provide bikes, panniers, camping equipment and experience, which will be used to help people escape the poverty and stress of some of the most deprived areas in the NW and allow them to experience the freedom of the local countryside. This is a huge undertaking and we are looking for partners who can supply new, used or slight damaged/repairable equipment. If you can help or if you are part of a larger organization who would like to partner with us, we would love to hear from you.
